Key Facts About Seasonal Flu Vaccine:

  • When to Get Vaccinated?

Yearly flu vaccine can begin in September or as soon as vaccine is available. This is because the timing and duration of influenza seasons vary. The protection (immunity) provided by the vaccine lasts about a year, so vaccination in the fall provided protection for the duration of the flu season.

  • Who Should Get Vaccinated?

Anyone, at any age, who wants to reduce the likelihood of becoming ill with influenza or spreading influenza to others.

The seasonal influenza vaccines are formulated to prevent annual flu. They do not protect against pandemic H1N1 influenza. The H1N1 vaccine is not available at this time. We will share more information as it becomes available.
