With winter just around the corner, Jeff Kennedy, ACMC Exercise Physiologist and ACCEL Performance & Fitness Program Director, is already thinking golf! Jeff has now received the Level 3 TPI Medical Profession certification from the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI). Jeff is the first and only Medical Level 3 in Minnesota. TPI, founded by Dr. Greg Rose and David Phillips in Oceanside, CA, offers three levels of education that is designed to identify and overcome and physical restrictions that are limiting a golfers’ potential. The Level 3 training addresses golf-specific injuries, injury inducing swing mechanics, advanced swing faults, wrist and ankle physical screening procedures, and medical evaluation exercise progressions for Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA). This certification also allows us to offer the K-Vest TPI 3D Swing Analysis system in our clinic. The system uses Titleist algorithms developed to standardize 3D measurement in the golf industry. This allows us to use the same measurements that Titleist uses to collect 3D data in assessments and training on their top PGA and LPGA tour players. This hardware is used in the ACCEL TIP Golf Program, but is portable and allows us to take it to area golf courses to be used during rounds to record actual swings.
